Our residential and house painting service is a great option for your home in Ventura. In most homes, several kinds of paint are used to cover every surface that isn’t stone or stained wood. The idea of simply changing the color of the paint in your residence may seem like a straightforward process, but there are important things to consider. Each surface receives a different type of paint to optimize the appearance, and for functional issues as well. We provide a color consultation on every painting project which allows to you select the exact colors for your home and set a theme.
Most homes follow a similar practice of applying several styles of paints to separate surfaces to optimize the appearance and functionality of the home. Walls or other areas which have large surfaces tend to have matte finished paints. There are some exceptions, and we can create any kind of appearance for your home, but most homeowners tend to not want walls to appear too brilliant and sheen because it can create a distracting effect. Conversely, trim areas, baseboards, and other features in the home can look great with a shinier styled paint. A more brilliant or illuminated trim can contrast nicely with matted walls, but this can also have a functional purpose. Window sills, baseboards, chair runs, and other features tend to simply be touched more than walls or ceilings. Through the natural course of living in your home, you may bump these areas with your feet, slide chairs into them when sitting down, lean on them to open a window, and do hundreds of other things which can slowly wear down the paint. Using a harder enameled paint on areas likely to be handled or touched protects the paint from deteriorating, and this also helps prevent the trim wood from being damaged. There are many ways to approach the painting strategy in your home, and during your color consultation we’ll plan out a system which creates a look that you love, and will also be durable.
Painting your home generally involves a lot more than just changing the color of the paint on your walls, there’s actually quite a bit of maintenance involved. Paint is applied to numerous different surfaces; walls, ceilings, trim areas, baseboards, and more. When you look closely, almost every surface in your home that isn’t a counter, floor, or stained wood, has paint on it. An important factor in the quality of a paint job is the condition of the substrate (the material that the paint is being applied to). No matter how skilled a painter is, if they’re painting on a compromised, damaged, or deteriorated surface, the paint won’t looks its best, and will break down prematurely. Therefore, thorough, detailed, careful preparation, maintenance, touch ups, and repairs of each surface is required to provide the best possible work. Depending on the condition of drywall, wood, and other features in your house, preparation can range from removing nails and filling a few holes, to repairing or replacing rotted wood, removing mold, repairing stucco, and addressing lead paint issues. There are many potential issues that may need to be addressed when repainting your home. Ventura County has many old homes, some built in the 1920s and 1930s, or even older in some cases. These homes are beautiful, but many have maintenance issues related to their age. Oil based paints and lead paints are still present in some of these homes, and we come across houses which have oil based paint underneath water based topcoats. When we take on a project we ensure that each detail is accounted for, including the following painting, maintenance, and repair as necessary:
